The Volunteer Advocate Academy was developed by Independent Living Resources through a National Institutes of Health Small Business Innovation Research Grant to assist court appointed special advocates and guardian ad litem volunteers to represent adolescents more effectively. The research to determine the effectiveness of the course was conducted in Summer/Fall 2009 with outstanding results.

This course includes pre and posttests and ten modules specific to working with teens involved in the child welfare and court systems. Users will receive four hours of interactive state-of-the-art online training and ongoing access to the course as a resource for review, legislative updates, and the latest best practices to working with young people in transition.
